Decorative fabrics
Project type
acrylics on cotton
Date
2010
Location
Windhoek, Namibia
After relocating to Namibia, one of the world's least populated countries, I was genuinely surprised to see how many Chinese individuals had made the decision to reside there. As I explored various towns and cities, I encountered Chinese restaurants, shops, and even cultural events, highlighting the establishment of a vibrant community that contributes to the local economy.
In addition to the cultural and economic exchanges taking place, I envisioned what the typical decorative fabrics, featuring hand-painted images of the local wildlife, might look like in the near future.
Considering that Namibia's national hymn begins with the poignant words "We are one...", proudly stating that it is home to 12 different peoples, I imagined the Chinese living there soon becoming an integral part of Namibia's diverse population.
