Malta 2004 – Summer in Swieqi, a newly developed neighborhood where greenery had somehow been left out of the planning: the hottest summer of my life.

Three months pregnant, with morning sickness that lasted day and night, I didn’t have the energy for healthy walks, exercise, swimming, or any kind of active lifestyle. Instead, I chose to spend the next month in awkward positions, making cumbersome movements, and constantly climbing up and down a wobbly stool to reach the highest parts of the wall.
